Funding supports collaborative partnership with Sentara Health
(Stanardsville, Virginia) — Greene County Parks and Recreation, which seeks to enrich the quality of life for all members of the community, is pleased to announce a generous contribution of $7,500 from Sentara Health to assist with the cost of equipment for a fitness trail in the Greene County Community Park in Ruckersville.
The $7,500 donation from Sentara will be utilized by Greene County Parks and Recreation to purchase outdoor fitness trail equipment among the trails at the Greene County Community Park. Fitness equipment will be spaced along the trail that will allow for cardio in between the strength-building stations. Utilizing other funds set aside by the Greene County Board of Supervisors, along with the Sentara Cares grant, the department has purchased a hurdle station; vault bar station, chin up bar, balance beam, push up station, sit up station, bench dip station, and a knee lift station. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held once the equipment is delivered and installed.
“The Parks and Recreation Department is very excited for the addition of a fitness trail to the Community Park,” said Parks and Recreation Director Justin Bullock. “We realize that not everyone can afford a gym membership or that they might feel intimidated with various gym environments. The new fitness trail gives the community an opportunity to get healthy and maintain an active lifestyle while enjoying the outdoors. Thank you to Sentara Cares and the Greene County Board of Supervisors for supporting these types of projects in our community.”
This contribution from Sentara reinforces their shared commitment to creating healthier communities through partnerships with organizations and individuals.
